Basketball superstar LeBron James has called for stricter gun laws in the United States after a deadly shooting on the campus of the University of Nevada.

James said it was "ridiculous" that the country has not taken action to prevent more mass shootings. "We continue to lose innocent lives," he said. "It makes no sense that this is happening on campuses, in schools, in shopping malls and in movie theaters."

James has been a vocal advocate for gun control for many years. He has said that he believes it is "stupid" that the United States has not taken action to prevent more mass shootings.

Three people were killed in the shooting at the university on Wednesday. The final games of the NBA's In-Season Tournaments are currently being played in Nevada, with the Lakers and James facing New Orleans in the semi-finals.
